Welcome to Sunrise Connection for Active Seniors
One thing is certain: 2009 will be a milestone year. The first of those milestones, of course, was the inauguration of our country’s first African American president. Black History Month in February provides an occasion for all Americans to learn more about the role of African Americans in the development of our country, and there is no better guide than our black authors. In this issue of Sunrise Connection, we provide a reading list to get you started. This is also the year in which we will say good-bye to analog television broadcasting and the VHS tape and welcome the digital signal and Blu-ray™ disks. Read on to learn if you need to do anything to take advantage of these changes. Technology is also increasing our ability to successfully treat many of the conditions of aging. For arthritis, as with other diseases, there is a steady stream of incremental changes on their way. We focus on some of the recent breakthroughs in arthritis research that will set the stage for additional improvements in the coming years. Of course, one phenomenon that’s constant, year in and year out, is taxes. Many people turn to tax preparation programs like TaxCut or TurboTax to automate the process. In this issue of Sunrise Connection, you can discover whether you would be better off trying these programs or doing your return by hand. Finally, we focus on the savings you can realize when you join a Sunrise independent living community. You’ll cut the number of checks you write each month from at least a dozen to just a handful. These days, Sunrise is a more prudent choice than ever. As the year progresses, we at Sunrise Connection will do our best to provide information you can use. Check in for a new selection of articles every two months.
